Albany State earns bid to NCAA Playoffs

Tucker, GA – Albany State University has been announced as one of the 24 teams selected to participate in the 2007 NCAA II Football playoffs.  The Golden Rams are seeded fifth for the Southeast Region and will play fourth-seeded Catawba College on Saturday, November 17 at 1 p.m.  

Albany State finished the season at 8-2 and represents the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) in the playoffs.  The Golden Rams finished 2nd in the SIAC and were in the field of 24 teams last season but dropped a first round game to Newberry College 34-28.  The game against Catawba will mark the first match-up between the schools in football.

Catawba (10-1) were South Atlantic Conference co-champions and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2004.  It will be the Indians’ first home playoff game since 2001.

Tickets will go on sale Monday at the Catawba athletic office.  Advance tickets will be $10 with tickets on game day being $12.  All seats are general admission and no passes will be accepted for a NCAA post-season event.  A children’s admission ticket for ages 12 and under will be available for $4 on game-day only.  For other information regarding the game please visit www.gocatawbaindians.com.
