Track & Field March 20-23 Recaps

w-track4.jpg Garrion Martin and Rodney Coley from Albany State University, fresh off of their performances at the NCAA Indoor National Championships were named the SIAC Co-Male Runners of the Week. Tamika Kinchen from Albany State was named from the Women's side.

 

Albany State to host Alice Coachman Invitational Track Meet April 5

asu-logo.jpgAlbany State University (ASU) will host the 16th Annual Alice Coachman Invitational Track Meet on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at ASU’s Robert Cross Track and Field Facility and Hugh Mills Stadium.

 

Men’s & Women’s Tennis Recaps from this weekends action

tennis-pic-1.jpgIn SIAC Men's & Women's Tennis Action, Stillman lost to Southern Arkansas 9-0, Fort Valley State Men lost to Florida Tech 8-1 and Fort Valley State Women lost 7-2 in an incomplete match.  Benedict  college defeated Albany State 5-3 in a make up session from the SIAC Tennis  Roundup.

 

Benedict’s winning streak is snapped ending their run in the NCAA Division II Tournament

basketball_vr.jpgNorth Alabama beat Benedict College in the second half of the championship basketball game played Tuesday at George Jenkins Field House at the Florida Southern Campus. North Alabama upset Benedict 97-75 snapping Benedict's winning streak of 17 games and ending their season at 28-5.

 

SIAC Track & Field March 10-16 Recap

mhc-relays.jpgCandice Camp of Albany State, Abraham Kiprotich of Morehouse, Oneil Williams of Benedict and Rodney Coley Albany State take home Runner of the Week honors. Albany State's Rodney Coley finished in 2nd place at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships.

 

Benedict to hold Press Conference

bc-logo.jpg[Columbia, SC]   On Thursday March 20, 2008 at 12:15 p.m.., the athletic department of Benedict College will hold press conference to announce the success of the 2007-2008 Men's Basketball team. The Press Conference will be held in the Benjamin E. Mays Human Resource Center Arena (BC GYM). Light refreshments will be served.

 

Kentucky State adds Guy Morriss to Football Staff

Farrier has announced three (3) additions to the Thorobred coaching staff for the 2008 football season.  The new coaches are Guy Morriss, Garry Fisher and Kenyatta McCoy.  Guy Morriss  is the first former BCS Head Coach to coach in the SIAC.

 

Lewis leads Benedict to NCAA DII South Regional Championship Game

b-lewis-2.jpgBennie Lewis scored 20 points to lead four players in double figures as #2 Benedict downed #3 Tampa, 73-59, to advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Division II South Regional Men's Basketbal Tournamenrt to be played Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Jenkins Field House on the campus of Florida Southern College.

 

Holmes leads Benedict to the 2nd Round of NCAA Regionals

b-lewis.jpg #2 seed Benedict defeated #7 seed Eckerd 70-49. SIAC Freshman of the Year and SIAC Tournament MVP Michael Holmes added a game high 19 points and 6 rebounds to lead the way for Benedict. Bennie Lewis scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

 

Kentucky State eliminated from the NCAA Regionals

jenn-reg-1.jpg The top ranked Delta State women’s basketball team (30-0) defeated Kentucky State University (19-12), 76-35, in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament Friday at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The Lady Statesmen continue their perfect season, while advancing to Saturday’s semifinals against the winner of the West Georgia versus Nova Southeastern game. The 34 points scored by KSU also established a new record for fewest points allowed by DSU in an NCAA postseason game.
