Tuskegee and Kentucky State chosen for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament

a.jpgThe NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2008 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship. Twenty-one conferences, including the SIAC, have been awarded automatic qualification. The committee selected the remaining 43 teams at-large. Tournament Champion Tuskegee was awarded an automatic bid due to their great season and them winning the SIAC Tournament. Kentucky State University received an at large bid.

Eight regional tournaments, consisting of eight teams each, will be conducted at campus sites March 14, 15 and 17. The regional champions will advance to the NCAA Women’s Elite Eight March 26, 27 and 29 at the Health and Sports Center in Kearney, Nebraska. University at 6 pm. The Tigerettes of Tuskegee received the #7 seed and will face #2 seed Arkansas Tech at Walter Sillers Coliseum on the campus of Delta State University at 1 pm in Cleveland, MS. SIAC tournament runner up, Kentucky State, received the #8 seed and will face #1 seed and host of the tournament Delta State

Ticket prices are set at $5 for students and $10 for adults for each day’s action. Tickets to Monday’s championship game will be $10 for students and $15 for adults. All-session passes are available for students at $15 and adults $25. Valid ID must be presented at time of purchase for student discount. Tickets may be purchased in person at Chadwick-Dickson Athletic Field House or by calling (662) 846-4300.
