The thirteenth-ranked Golden Suns (26-5) of Arkansas Tech University advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA South Region Tournament with an 82-61 victory over the Tigerettes (21-9) of Tuskegee in the first round Friday at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Brittany Evans pictured left led TU with 17 points.

The Albany State University head men’s track and field coach and a standout student athlete are the recipients of regional track and field awards. Marvin Oliver has been named the 2008 South Region Men's Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year and Jana Mrozkova was named the South Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year. Oliver and Mrozkova are two of 24 coaches and student-athletes honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Two Albany State University student-athletes will compete in the 2008 NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held at Myers Field House at Minnesota State University in Mankato, MN on March 14-15.
