Brian Witherspoon of Stillman College and Terrance Stringer of Tuskegee University are added to the list of NFL hopefuls. Witherspoon signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Stringer has verbally agreed to a deal with the New York Giants but has not signed an official deal as of yet.

The Tennessee Titans have signed rookie free agent Ed Williams. Ed Williams’s contract was undisclosed but he signed on Monday, April 28 just one day removed from the NFL Draft weekend.

The Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL) have signed Clark Atlanta University Defensive End Curtis Johnson as a free agent. Johnson and the Colts came to terms on a three-year contract over the NFL Draft Weekend (April 25-27, 2008), and Johnson becomes the second CAU player under head coach Ted Bahhur to be signed by an NFL team (Jonathan Hamm signed with the New Orleans Saints last year).

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Connor Sports Flooring are proud to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Awards. Joshua L. Harris of Morehouse College and Paola A. Lopez of Benedict College were the overall awardees of this distinguished award.

Championship day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference SIAC Golf Championship concluded with Paine College taking home the 1st championship since 1980. Coach Fred Watson was named Coach of the Year along with freshman sensation Sean Lucas who was named to the All Tournament, All Academic, All Conference and Freshman of the Year en route to leading Paine to the championship.

The second day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference SIAC Golf Championship started and finish all the same with Paine College still on top. After ending yesterday with only a two stroke difference between Paine (321) and Morehouse (323), Paine dropped ten points off yesterday scores to take a commanding lead heading in to the final day of the championship. All but Kentucky State bettered their scores, but they are still in contention for the crown. Paine recorded a 311 today, Morehouse scored a 322, Kentucky State scored a 359, Benedict posted a 340, while LeMoyne-Owen scored a 503.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teed off the resurgent SIAC Golf Championship today. Benedict College, Kentucky State University, Morehouse College, Paine College and LeMoyne-Owen College made history in Albany, GA today teeing off the championship for the first time since 1980. Paine College holds a slight lead amongst the five teams in the tournament. They finished the day shooting a 321 at the Flint River Golf Course.

After making history by restarting the SIAC Golf Championship, players from Benedict, Kentucky State, Morehouse and Paine joined forces with First Tee of Albany to teach local children the game of golf.
