Track & Field April 4-7 Recaps

m-track-3.jpgThis past weeks action was highlighted by the Alice Coachman Invitational that saw record times and great performances from around the SIAC. Candice Camp of Albany State took home the Runner of the Week for the women while Emmanuel Kirwa of Benedict was named for the men. The Division II rankings also came out and has Kentucky State ranked 10th for the men.

Runners of the Week

Women:
Candice Camp (Albany State)
Candice competed at the Alice Coachman Invitational in Albany, GA. She competed in the Long Jump finishing in 1st with a mark of 5.66m, Triple Jump finishing in 1st with a mark of 11.65, and ran a leg on the 1st place 4×100m relay team. The relay team ran the 4×100 in 47.40, a national provisional time. Her marks in botht he long jump and triple jump were also national provisional times.

Men:
Emmanuel Kirwa (Benedict)
Emmanuel competed at the Pepsi Florida Relays were he ran the 1500m and the 3000m Steeplechase. In the 1500m Kirwa ran 3:56.80 where he finished in 9th place and in the 3000m he ran the steeplechase in 9:36.81to finish in 10th place.

In other SIAC action Kentucky State’s Men team has been ranked 10th by the NCAA Division II Power Rankings with 229.90 points. For a complete listing please visit D2rankings.com.

The SIAC is proud to announce the Top 5 Runners. Highlighting the list is three men who have automatically qualified for the NCAA National Championships and 14 men who have provisionally qualified. For the women 22 have provisionally qualified for nationals.
