SIAC announces Softball All Conference Awards

sball-web.jpgThe Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Softball Coach’s Association are proud to announce the 2008 Softball All Conference & All Academic Team. The 2007 SIAC Softball Tournament MVP, Mindy Mager of ASU returns to take home 2008 regular season MVP honors. Lamara Parker of KSU and Robert Skinner also headline the list of award recipients.

Albany State Head Coach Robert Skinner took home the honor of Coach of the Year. Pitcher, Mindy Mager of Albany State, was named Player of the Year and the SIAC Freshman of the Year is Lamara Parker of Kentucky State.

All athletes and coaches will be recognized at the SIAC Spring Sports Championship Banquet on April 16, 2008 on the campus of Stillman College.

    I can’t understand how not one player from Benedict College didn’t make 1st or 2nd team but, they came in second in the conference.

    Cherae Rice is a freshman at Benedict College from Hampton Roads Area and is a great player who had an outstanding season with the stats to back it up but was over looked on all conferences awards. If the SIAC plans to recuit students out of the the Mid atlantic area they should at least give recognition to any player that attends a conference school from Mid Atlantic states especially one like Cherae Rice.
