SIAC Golf Day 2 Recap

dsc_0008.jpgThe second day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference SIAC Golf Championship started and finish all the same with Paine College still on top. After ending yesterday with only a two stroke difference between Paine (321) and Morehouse (323), Paine dropped ten points off yesterday scores to take a commanding lead heading in to the final day of the championship. All but Kentucky State bettered their scores, but they are still in contention for the crown. Paine recorded a 311 today, Morehouse scored a 322, Kentucky State scored a 359, Benedict posted a 340, while LeMoyne-Owen scored a 503.

Phillip Allen of Morehouse College who scored the lowest score of 73 on yesterday, scored the second highest score of the day with a 74. Daniel Augustas, ironically playing with the third group, shot the lowest score of the day with a 73. Olajuwon Ajanaku of Benedict bounced back from shooting a 78 yesterday to shoot 75 on the day after going -2 on the front nine. Antwan Hawthorne (75) was one of three players for Paine College that shot under 80 on the day.

Round three will begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2008. Paine College will be the first team to tee off followed by Morehouse, Kentucky State and Benedict. Immediately after the championship round the All Conference, All Academic, All Tournament, MVP and Coach of the Year will be recognized at the Flint River Golf Course Club House.dsc_0047.jpg
