SIAC Announces 4th Annual Connor Elite 12 Winners
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Connor Sports Flooring are proud to announce the winners of the 4th Annual Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Awards. Joshua L. Harris of Morehouse College and Paola A. Lopez of Benedict College were the overall awardees of this distinguished award. They both received $2,000 each for their scholastic achievements throughout their collegiate career. Twelve (12) additional recipients of this award received a $100.00 scholarship for their scholastic and athletic achievements.
Paola A. Lopez is a senior tennis student athlete at Benedict College with a 4.0 Cumulative GPA. Her athletic achievements include: All Conference 2nd team singles in 2005-2006, International Tennis Association All Academic in 2005-2006, SIAC All Academic Team in 2005-2006. In 2007 she was named to the SIAC All Tournament doubles team, SIAC all Conference 1st team doubles, SIAC all Conference 2nd team singles, and SIAC All Academic Team. Some of Paola’s academic achievements include being a member of the School Of Honors at Benedict, Dean’s List, President’s List, and a Dean’s Scholar.
Joshua L. Harris is a tennis student athlete at Morehouse College with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. Some of his athletic achievements include being named to the 2006 All Conference Doubles and Singles teams, 2006 All Academic Team, and being named Freshman of the Year in 2006. Harris helped lead Morehouse to the SIAC Conference Tennis Championship in 2007 and was named Most Valuable Team Member in 2007. Along with his 4.0 GPA, Joshua’s Academic Achievements include being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa (4.00 GPA), Pi Sigma Alpha (National Political Science Honor Society), and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

The Connor Elite 12 Scholar/Athlete Awards Program is in its fourth year of existence for the SIAC and its objective is to recognize an outstanding male and female student athlete from each SIAC member institution. The criteria for this award include being a student athlete with at least a 3.3 GPA, who exhibits academic and athletic success, while depicting the characteristics of Leadership, Discipline, and Attitude. Twelve (12) individuals from SIAC Institutions were chosen this year for this award and received a plaque and an $100.00 scholarship towards their tuition including:
