Kentucky State wins SIAC SAAC Citizenship Award

Kentucky State University provided stellar service to their community en route to winning the second annual Student Athlete Advisory Committee (S.A.A.C.) Citizenship Award. Student Athletes from around the SIAC, through their S.A.A.C. programs, competed all year to acquire points to win the award by completing community service projects and other initiatives on their campus and in their community.

 

Morehouse’s Prince wins 400m IH at NCAA Nationals

WALNUT, Calif. - Morehouse's Damian Prince was the lone National Champion as he took home his second consecutive national championship in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles to lead the SIAC at the NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championships.  Albany State men's team had the best overall performance finishing in 8th after taking home three top five finishes.

 

SIAC Announces Commissioner’s All Academic Team

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is proud to announce the Commissioner’s All Academic Team. The list comprises student athletes from every member institution that have gained or maintained an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Tamica Jones named to the NCAA Committee of Women’s Athletics

Kenny Jones named to DII Bulletin Honorable Mention Team

ksu-logo.jpgFrankfort, KY-Kenny Jones, has landed another post season honors for his performance during the 2007-2008 basketball season. He was named to the 2007-08 Division II Bulletin All-American Honorable Mention Team.

 

Three SIAC Athletes and Two Head Coaches honored by the USTFCCCA

86424_ustfccca-web.jpgThe U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the Division II regional winners. The top men and women's track and field performers are honored along with the top head coaches and assistant coaches are honored in each of the eight regions. Highlighting the athlete's list for the South Region is Garrion Martin (Albany State-M), Roxie Griffin (Albany State-W), and Antionette Oglesby (Fort Valley State-W). Albany State's men and womens' head coaches, Ken Taylor and Marvin Oliver were both named as the South Region Coach of the Year.

 

Three ASU Baseball Players honored by NCBWA

ncbwa.jpgThe National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced the All-South Region Team for 2008. Chuncey Ward and Nathan Coggins of Albany State were named to the 1st Team. Samuel Murphy, also of ASU, was named to the 2nd Team.

 

NCAA Announces Outdoor Track & Field Championships Participants

tf-web2.jpgThe NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Committee has announced the participants for the 2008 NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships.  A total of 9 women athletes and 11 men athletes will compete on behalf of the SIAC.

 

Stillman eliminated from NCAA DII South Regional

bball-web.jpgTAMPA, Fla. – In game four of the NCAA II Baseball South Regional, #5 seed Carson-Newman (42-17) staved off elimination, defeating #6 seed Stillman (26-26) 7-5 to send the Tigers packing and giving the Eagles their first-ever 42-win season.

 

Bormann named Athletic Director at Lane College
