Albany State eliminated in NCAA DII Softball Regional Tournament
#4 University of Tampa (32-12) powered themselves to a 5-0 victory over #8 Albany State in game six of the NCAA Division II Softball South Regional Tournament at Buccaneer Field.
Ashley Carrea hit her second homerun in as many days, a two run shot to left field in the fourth inning. Carrea (pictured) capped the contest with a three-for-three performance at the plate including a game high four RBI’s and two doubles. 
Heather VanLandingham (11-4) earned the win for the Spartans, silencing the Golden Rams offense with 14 strikeouts in the shutout effort. She allowed only four hits.
Mindy Mager (18-13) took the loss for Albany State, giving up five earned runs and eight hits with two strike outs. Mager also recorded two hits at the plate.
The Golden Rams concluded the season with a 33-22 mark.
The Spartans will now take on the loser of the West Florida/Saint Leo matchup on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 am.
