Stinson to attend NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males & Females

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s Director of Communications & Marketing Assistant, Harry “Trae” Stinson, III, has been selected  as one of ten women and thirteen men nationwide, to attend the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males & Females. The first professional development session will be held on the weekend of June 27, 2008.

The Leadership Institute, a year-long program comprised of four week-end sessions and one week-long intensive workshop, is designed to address the shortage of senior-level administrators of color at NCAA member institutions and in conference offices.

Participants focus on leadership training, skills development and other job-related competencies. This institute is sponsored by the NCAA Diversity and Inclusion and the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee.

Harry follows the footsteps of other SIAC graduates of the institute including most recently Tamica Jones, Senior Woman Administrator/Compliance Coordinator at Clark Atlanta University.  Jones graduated from the institute in 2007 while it was only for women.  The institute changed to include both males and females in 2007-08 and will celebrate the graduation of the first class during the weekend of June 26, 2008.  He is one of only three professionals in the institute that is not at the Division I level.
