Sherard Ellis – Lane (Sr, QB, 6-2, 200, Missouri City, TX)
Completed 28 of 44 passes for 388 yards and five TDs while rushing 28 times for 144 yards and another touchdown in quadruple overtime loss to Benedict.
Co-Defensive Players of the Week
Jeffrey Cargile – Morehouse (Sr, LB, 5-9, 200, Cincinnati, OH)
Recorded 14 tackles (6 solo) and had 2.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in loss to Tuskegee.
Tobias Wilson – Miles (Fr, NG, 6-0, 240, Selma, AL)
Recorded 13 tackles (4 solo), two sacks, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble in loss to Concordia.
Newcomer of the Week
Tyren Futch - Lane (Fr, FS, 6-0, 180, Indianapolis, IN)
Recorded 9 tackles (7 solo) , a fumble recovery, a pass interception and a pass break up in game against Benedict.
Co-Special Teams Players of the Week
Michael Streiff – Morehouse (Jr, K, 5-11, 175, Decatur, GA)
Punted six times for an average of 42.7 yards with three successful PATs.
Demetrice Johnson – Albany State (Jr, KR/RB, 5-11, 224, Atlanta, GA)
Accounted for 142 yards in four kickoff returns including an 85-yard return for a touchdown to tie the score in the Golden Rams’ come-from-behind, homecoming win over Clark Atlanta.
Offensive Lineman of the Week
Omar Saenz – Albany State (Fr, Tackle, 6-4, 250, Kingsland, GA)
Anchored O-line that helped produce 178 yards in total offense (113 rushing, 65 passing) averaging 3.4 yards per play.
Notable Performances
Tuskegee QB Jacary Atkinson threw for 239 yds and 2 TDs; rushed for 69 yds in win over Morehouse.
Stillman QB Darrell Nevin passed for 226 yards and a TD; rushed for 68 yards and another score in win over Edward Waters.
Fort Valley State QB Garrett Williams completed 15 of 26 passes for 166 yards and 3 TDs with no interceptions in win over Kentucky State
Albany St RB Roger Frazier scored on his only rushing attempt (25 yds) and caught an 11-yard pass for a second TD.
Tuskegee DB Justin Hannah intercepted two passes and returned one 22 yards for a TD.
Lane DT Anthony Crayton recorded nine tackles (4 solo) a sack and three tackles for loss.
Stillman DE Alex Dumeus recorded seven tackles (five for a loss), 2.5 sacks and two QB hurries.
Fort Valley State DE Jerrell McCray recovered two fumbles and returned one 12 yards for a TD.
Morehouse WR Jamar Rodriquez amassed 172 all purpose yards in loss to Tuskegee
Fort Valley State P Marquette King averaged 48.7 yds on three punts with two inside the 20.
