Benedict gets win #5 for the 1st time in 5 years beating K-State 42-35
After a five year wait, the BC Tiger faithful finally get a five win season after defeating the K-State Thorobreds 42-35 on Saturday at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium. Despite Coach Conner not being their to see the victory or the great play of his groomed QB, as he was escorted to the hospital due to health concerns during halftime, Robert Rowe would have an above average game rushing for 45 yards and passing for over 145 yards.

KSU would draw first blood scoring on a 3 yard run by Shannon Frierson making the score 6-0. KSU would make a successful attempt at the two point conversion raising the score to 8-0. Benedict didn’t answer back until the 13:30 mark during the second quarter. Renando Rose scored a touchdown from six yards out and Alper Keskin completed a good PAT. With the score now KSU 8 – BC 7, KSU replied quickly at the 09:10 mark with a 23 yard pass from Kevin Warner connecting to Juwan Jones. They would score on 11 plays totaling 70 yards.
Robert Rowe would score the next touchdown with 2:45 on the clock with a 13 yard run to pull BC back into the game with the score now the score 15-7. KSU would score on their next two possession including a 12 run by Michael Wright touchdown run at the 2:38 mark and with only: 36 seconds left in the half Shannon Freison would catch a 36 yard touchdown pass from Warner to give KSU the lead 29-14.
There would only be one touchdown scored in the third quarter and it sparked some fire in the BC Tigers. Rowe completed his longest touchdown pass of the night to Kareem Dunlap for 58 yards. Keskin kick was good to make the score KSU 29, BC 21.
During the fourth quarter Benedict outscored KSU 21-6 to give them a one touchdown lead with less than 7 minutes to play in the game. Kareem Dunlap, Stan Rowe, and Renando Rose all scored within a six minute span. KSUs Juwan Jones added another touchdown on his day making the final score but on the ensuing kickoff Rowe would return the kick 82 yards for a touchdown and after Richard Siders scored on a two point conversion the score was 35-35. Rose scored the go ahead touchdown with 6:34 remaining in the game to give BC the victory 42-35.
The Tigers (5-5, 4-4 SIAC) will face-off against Clark Atlanta University next week in Augusta, GA at the CSRA Classic at 2:00 p.m. Kentucky State will play their final game of the season against Morehouse in Atlanta at 1:00 pm and fall to 3-7 on the season and 1-7 in the SIAC.
