Lady Rams head to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships
The NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will be participating in the 2008 NCAA Division II Women’s Volleyball Championship. Albany State received the #8 seed in the South Region and will take on the #1 seed and tournament host, University of Tampa on Thursday, November 20, 2008.
Eight teams were selected from each of the following eight regions: Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast and West. Eight eight-team regionals will be played at on-campus sites. Regional competition will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches and will not include a third-place match. The winners of each of the eight regionals will advance to the finals, December 4-6, on the campus of a participating institution. Competition at the finals site will be single-elimination, best three-of-five game matches.
Albany State received the #8 seed as the SIAC’s Conference automatic qualification berth despite having a 27-3 overall regular season record. Albany State’s match up against Tampa will take place on Tampa’s campus on Thursday, November 20, 2008.
Tampa (26-4) is set to make their 13th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their 24th trip overall in 29 seasons. The Spartans are coming off of their fourth consecutive Sunshine State Conference title to give the program 18 overall.
Tickets may be purchased at the gate for $10 (adults) and $6 (students with ID/senior citizens). Children under the age of five shall be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.
UT will offer live stats and a webcast for each of the NCAA South Regional matches.
