NCAA DII Outdoor Regional Track & Field Championship Recaps

m-track-5.jpg Morehouse College hosted the NCAA Division II South Region Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 3.  Edwin Moses Track at B.T. Harvey Stadium featured athletes from the SIAC, Atlantic Sun, Sunshine State conference and several independent schools all vying for the opportunity to qualify for the Division II National Championships in Mount Sac, CA, May 22-24.  Albany State men and Women dominated the field of 14 colleges from around the region with the ASU men taking home the meet victory.

 

Track & Field April 4-7 Recaps

m-track-3.jpgThis past weeks action was highlighted by the Alice Coachman Invitational that saw record times and great performances from around the SIAC. Candice Camp of Albany State took home the Runner of the Week for the women while Emmanuel Kirwa of Benedict was named for the men. The Division II rankings also came out and has Kentucky State ranked 10th for the men.

track-asu-runner-2.jpg Highlighting this week were fantasy times that were ran at the Florida State Relays. Both Fort Valley State's relay teams (4x100, 4x400) ran National Automatic Times. Jeffery Mosley of Fort Valley State, led the way and is named the Men's Runner of the Week. For the second straight week Tamika Kinchen of Albany State is the Women's Runner of the Week along with Antionette Oglesby of Fort Valley State.

 

Men’s & Women’s Tennis Recaps from this weekends action

tennis-pic-1.jpgIn SIAC Men's & Women's Tennis Action, Stillman lost to Southern Arkansas 9-0, Fort Valley State Men lost to Florida Tech 8-1 and Fort Valley State Women lost 7-2 in an incomplete match.  Benedict  college defeated Albany State 5-3 in a make up session from the SIAC Tennis  Roundup.

 

Times for Albany State-Fort Valley State basketball games changed

The starting time for the Albany State-Fort Valley State basketball game this week has been changed.  The doubleheader contest scheduled for February 16 in Fort Valley will remain on that date, but times have been changed to 12:00 noon (men) and 2:00 p.m. (women).

 

SIAC Women’s Basketball Action Recap Jan. 19-21, 2008

johnson-sc.jpgThe Women's SIAC recap includes Fort Valley State continuing their winning ways defeating Benedict and Albany State continuing a winning streak winning 7 of their last eight games including a big victory over Paine on the road. LeMoyne-Owen took a victory over Stillman but fell short against Tuskegee. Arch Rivals Miles and Stillman nearly went to overtime but Miles prevailed late. And the Clark Atlanta vs. Kentucky State game and Miles vs. Tuskegee were cancelled due to the snow storm that came through Georgia and Alabama on Saturday. Sylbrena Johnson of Stillman (left) had a stellar weekend despite two losses.

 

SIAC Men’s Basketball Action Weekend Recap Jan. 19-21, 2008

mhc-_42.jpgThe weekend wrap includes Morehouse continuing their unbeaten streak at home as they outlast Lane. Benedict defeating Fort Valley State, while LeMoyne-Owen sweeps through the state of Alabama defeating Stillman and Tuskegee. Stillman bounced back to defeat Miles on MLK day and Tuskegee, Clark Atlanta, Kentucky State and Lane experienced the winter wonderland in Atlanta as a Snow storm cancelled some SIAC Action.

 

SIAC Men’s Basketball Action Recap Jan. 17, 2008

cau-dunker.jpgBenedict College outlasted a tough Albany State team to take sole possession of first place in the SIAC. Morehouse snapped a two game losing streak defeating Kentucky State to remain unbeaten at home. A last second jumper sealed a victory for Miles pushing them to victory as they rallied to take the win over LeMoyne-Owen. In other action, Clark Atlanta defeated Lane and Paine outlasted Fort Valley State in a high scoring match that saw each team have at least 5 players score in the double digits.

 

SIAC Women’s Basketball Action Recap Jan. 17, 2008

triggs-fvsu.jpgAlbany State arrived 15 minutes before the game and still continued their winning streak as they defeated Benedict 73-60. While in other SIAC Action, Miles defeated LeMoyne-Owen, Fort Valley State defeated Paine, and Clark Atlanta won at home over Lane. Both Clark Atlanta and Albany State are riding a winning streak of at least 4 games with CAU riding a 6 game streak. Takesha Riggs of Fort Valley State led all scorers with 27 points.

 

SIAC Basketball Action to air on ESPNU & CSTV starting this weekend

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the upcoming television schedule for Basketball. The action starts this weekend with the 6th Annual Peach Ball Basketball Homecoming Game, which pits the Fort Valley State University Wildcats against the Golden Rams of Albany State University, on Sunday, Jan. 13 live on ESPNU where the Men's game will be televised. The women’s game will tip off at 5:30 p.m., with the men’s game starting at 7:30 p.m. The games will be held at Albany State’s HPER Gymnasium arena.
