The University of North Alabama claimed a 5-0 victory over Tuskegee while Benedict fell to second seeded West Florida 5-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Division II South Regional Championships held in Valdosta, GA & Pensacola, FL.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Ouachita Baptist men’s tennis team surrendered just three games on the way to a convincing 5-0 victory over Tuskegee during the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championships at the University of West Florida.

The Tuskegee women's tennis teams has been honored as April's recipients of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Team Sportsmanship Award, the ITA announced today.

The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Tennis Committee has selected the teams and 16 first- and second-round sites of the 2008 NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championships. Tuskegee University men's and women's team were automatic qualifiers. Benedict College women's team were chosen at large based on the prescribed criteria of the NCAA.

Brian Witherspoon of Stillman College and Terrance Stringer of Tuskegee University are added to the list of NFL hopefuls. Witherspoon signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Stringer has verbally agreed to a deal with the New York Giants but has not signed an official deal as of yet.

TUSKEGEE, AL - Tuskegee University President Benjamin F. Payton has announced the appointment of Stacy L. Danley II as the new Athletic Director at the institution. In this position, Danley will report and be responsible to the President for the effective and efficient operations of the total athletic program and will work closely with the Vice President for University Advancement in funds development for the Athletic Department.

Tuscaloosa, AL – Tuskegee University claims both of the SIAC Tennis Championships. Tuskegee’s men win their 29th SIAC title while the women have won their 11th. The men’s championship is their fourth in the last five years.

This past weeks action was highlighted by the Alice Coachman Invitational that saw record times and great performances from around the SIAC. Candice Camp of Albany State took home the Runner of the Week for the women while Emmanuel Kirwa of Benedict was named for the men. The Division II rankings also came out and has Kentucky State ranked 10th for the men.

In the latest Black College Sports Page HBCU Top Ten Basketball Polls, Benedict College and Claflin University nearly bookmark the rankings finishing 1st & 9th respectively. On the woman's side Tuskegee finished in 5th place while Kentucky State finished in 8th place. Largely in part to their domination of the SIAC and their historic run in the NCAA Tournaments, the SIAC had the most ever teams in the BCSP polls and the first ever finish at the number one spot. The SIAC congratulates all of the Top 10 teams.
