TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Entering Sunday’s Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Championship, Stillman coach Donny Crawford knew he had to piece together enough pitching to win two games against Paine College. Although the Lions twice had Stillman on the ropes, the Tigers’ bullpen was lights out and the bats came alive in time to post a 9-4 and 6-5 sweep of Paine to take a second consecutive SIAC title at Tiger Field.

Paine College defeats Stillman 8-3 to advance to the Finals. Stillman dropped to the losers bracket but will have a chance to advance to the finals if they can defeat the winner of the Albany State vs. Miles College game. ASU and MC will play at 10:00 am on Saturday and the winner will face Stillman at 1:00 pm at Stillman College.

In today's baseball action #2 seed in the West, Stillman College advanced to the quarter finals after defeating arch rival #1 seed of the East, Albany State 4-1. Paine College, under the leadership of Head Coach of the Year Pete Cardenas, also advanced to the quarter finals after defeating #1 seed in the West, Miles College.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will host the annual Spring Sports Championships April 16-20, 2008 in Tuscaloosa, AL on the campus of Stillman College. Highlighting this year's event is the SIAC Spring Sports Championship Opening Banquet on April 16 at Birthright Gymnasium. At the banquet the SIAC will announce the 2008 All Conference, All Academic, and Superlative Award recipients to over 1,000 participants.
