Morehouse College hosted the NCAA Division II South Region Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 3. Edwin Moses Track at B.T. Harvey Stadium featured athletes from the SIAC, Atlantic Sun, Sunshine State conference and several independent schools all vying for the opportunity to qualify for the Division II National Championships in Mount Sac, CA, May 22-24. Albany State men and Women dominated the field of 14 colleges from around the region with the ASU men taking home the meet victory.

For the fourth consecutive year Albany State women have taken home the SIAC Track & Field Championships. With the title ASU has won their 5th SIAC title.

At the conclusion of today's track & field action the race is very tight at the top for the women and Morehouse men are running ahead of the pack. Eight events have been scored and for the women Albany State, and Clark Atlanta are separated by just 13.5 points. Morehouse leads the pack with 110 points and Benedict has 81. Nine events are still left to score and the race is still close.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Track & Field Coach’s Association are proud to announce the 2008 Men’s and Women’s Track & Field All Conference Teams. Highlighting this list is 32 provisional qualifiers and 3 automatic qualifiers for the NCAA National championships.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will host the annual Spring Sports Championships April 16-20, 2008 in Tuscaloosa, AL on the campus of Stillman College. Highlighting this year's event is the SIAC Spring Sports Championship Opening Banquet on April 16 at Birthright Gymnasium. At the banquet the SIAC will announce the 2008 All Conference, All Academic, and Superlative Award recipients to over 1,000 participants.

Schools from around the SIAC met in Atlanta, GA for the annual AUC Invitational on Wednesday evening. Athletes from Clark Atlanta, Fort Valley State, Miles, Morehouse, Paine and Stillman competed gaging each other in preparation of the SIAC Championships in Tuscaloosa next week.

This past weeks action was highlighted by the Alice Coachman Invitational that saw record times and great performances from around the SIAC. Candice Camp of Albany State took home the Runner of the Week for the women while Emmanuel Kirwa of Benedict was named for the men. The Division II rankings also came out and has Kentucky State ranked 10th for the men.
