ASU Wins their 7th Consecutive SIAC Volleyball Championship

Frankfort, KY – Albany State University took the long road to their 7th Consecutive SIAC Volleyball Championship, having to come from the Loser’s Bracket and defeat a tough Benedict College Team.  In the end; however, ASU proved to be to resilient as they defeated BC in 5 games in both championship games to take the title.  Benedict College defeated Albany State in the Semi finals the night before setting up an opportunity for a rematch match/redemption match for the title.  Albany State; however, was poised for the title winning 3-2 in both championship games.

SIAC Volleyball Day 3 Recap Championship Day of the 21st Annual SIAC Volleyball Championship has been a dramatic day of all Eastern division teams vying for the SIAC title.  Clark Atlanta gave a valiant attempt but fell short to a rested Albany State team, while Benedict College tried to pull off the upset over the six time defending champions Albany State University.  But in the end Albany State took home the SIAC Crown for the 7th Consecutive Time.

 

21st Annual Volleyball Championship Day 2 Recap

SIAC Volleyball Day 2 Recap The 21st Annual SIAC Volleyball Championship was filled with compelling drama the entire day.  All but one of the Eastern Division teams finished the day with a chance to compete for the SIAC title.  The Western Division had high hopes but at the end of the day the host Kentucky State was eliminated ending their hopes for a SIAC title in a dramatic 3-1 come from behind defeat by Clark Atlanta.

 

Day 2 Bracket - 2007 SIAC Volleyball Championships

Day two has been completed in the 2007 SIAC Volleyball Championships. Benedict has advanced through the winner's bracket and now awaits the survivor of loser's bracket competition between Fort Valley State, Clark Atlanta and Albany State.

 

21st Annual Volleyball Championship Day 1 Results

SIAC Volleyball Day 1 Recap The 21st Annual SIAC Volleyball Champion was filled with expected wins and domination in those wins.  No major upsets occurred, however only 1 team scored points in a loss.  The day started out with a opening round game featuring the six time SIAC Volleyball Tournament Champion, Albany State and ended with a dominate victory by the team that finished 2nd in last year’s volleyball championship Fort Valley State.

 

2007 SIAC Volleyball All Conference Team

Frankfort, KY – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Volleyball Coaches Association are proud to announce the 2007 SIAC All Conference Volleyball Team.  Highlighting the list is LaToya Reeves of Fort Valley State, who took home 1st team honors and Most Valuable Player; Maegan Thompkins of Clark Atlanta, who took home Defensive Player of the Year; Jennifer Holman of Clark Atlanta, who took home Offensive Player of the Year and for the second straight year Coach Emory Lightfoot, Jr, of Fort Valley State was named Coach of the Year.
