Clark Atlanta and Miles College both were named to the 2007-08 Most Improved NCAA Women's Basketball Teams for Division II. Miles College (17-11) improved the most, winning 14 more games over the previous year's win total tying them for 1st place with the best turn around with Francis Marion. Clark Atlanta (18-11) improved by 12 wins to finish fourth on the list. The list of the 34 most improved teams in Division II was compiled and published by NCAA Statistics.

In the latest Black College Sports Page HBCU Top Ten Basketball Polls, Benedict College and Claflin University nearly bookmark the rankings finishing 1st & 9th respectively. On the woman's side Tuskegee finished in 5th place while Kentucky State finished in 8th place. Largely in part to their domination of the SIAC and their historic run in the NCAA Tournaments, the SIAC had the most ever teams in the BCSP polls and the first ever finish at the number one spot. The SIAC congratulates all of the Top 10 teams.

The top ranked Delta State women’s basketball team (30-0) defeated Kentucky State University (19-12), 76-35, in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament Friday at Walter Sillers Coliseum. The Lady Statesmen continue their perfect season, while advancing to Saturday’s semifinals against the winner of the West Georgia versus Nova Southeastern game. The 34 points scored by KSU also established a new record for fewest points allowed by DSU in an NCAA postseason game.

The thirteenth-ranked Golden Suns (26-5) of Arkansas Tech University advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA South Region Tournament with an 82-61 victory over the Tigerettes (21-9) of Tuskegee in the first round Friday at Walter Sillers Coliseum. Brittany Evans pictured left led TU with 17 points.

The NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Committee announced the field of 64 teams for the 2008 NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Championship. Twenty-one conferences, including the SIAC, have been awarded automatic qualification. The committee selected the remaining 43 teams at-large. Tournament Champion Tuskegee was awarded an automatic bid due to their great season and them winning the SIAC Tournament. Kentucky State University received an at large bid.

The Lady Tigers of Tuskegee take home the championship as they defeated Kentucky State Thorobrettes 59-55. Crystal Benton was named Tournament MVP. Aisha Johnson also joined her on the All Tournament Team, while Coach Belinda Roby was named Outstanding Coach of the Tournament.

In todays action both Tuskegee Men and Women advance fairly easy, Kentucky State women's team advances to the finals and Benedict continued their hopes toward a SIAC Title and a shot at participating in the NCAA Regionals in a week.

In todays action both #2 seeds got upset. #2 seed Fort Valley State women's team lost a tough game against Stillman and #2 LeMoyne-Owen for the men was upset by Tuskegee in double overtime. Fort Valley State Men defeated Paine in a nail biter 71-66 and Kentucky State destroyed LeMoyne-Owen on the women's side.

The second day of the SIAC Tournament Action was filled with drama, controversy, upsets and a double overtime victory. Clark Atlanta leads the storm as both their Men & Women's team advance to the Semi-Finals. #1 seed Benedict College for the Men advance in a double overtime victory over Albany State, #1 seed Tuskegee for the women advance easily over Paine. Both Miles Men and women lost in dramatic upset fashion.

In the remainder of todays action Albany State men romps past Kentucky State, Stillman's Lady Tigers defeat Benedict's Lady Tigers, Tuskegee outlasts Morehouse and Clark Atlanta defeats Stillman 85-62.
