The NCAA Division II Softball Committee has selected the 64 teams that will participate in the 2008 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships. Albany State will represent the SIAC as the eight seed and will face the #1 seed Barry College.

In a rematch of last year’s Softball Championship game, Albany State University took care of business and brought home yet another SIAC Softball Title defeating the Golden Bears of Miles College 4-1. Head Coach Robert Skinner (Albany State) has led his Lady Rams to a second consecutive title and third in the last three years.

Albany State has advanced to the SIAC Spring Sports Championship game and will await the winner of the Miles vs. Clark Atlanta game. Albany State defeated Clark Atlanta yesterday to advance to the finals. Miles College has advanced to the loser's bracket championship game and will face Clark Atlanta at 10:00 am on Saturday.

In Softball action #1 seed Albany State defeated #5 in the West Tuskegee to advance to the quarter finals. ASU will face #2 in the west and host of the SIAC Spring Sports Championship, Stillman College. #1 in the West, Miles edged out Kentucky State and will face #2 in the East Clark Atlanta.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and Softball Coach’s Association are proud to announce the 2008 Softball All Conference & All Academic Team. The 2007 SIAC Softball Tournament MVP, Mindy Mager of ASU returns to take home 2008 regular season MVP honors. Lamara Parker of KSU and Robert Skinner also headline the list of award recipients.

The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will host the annual Spring Sports Championships April 16-20, 2008 in Tuscaloosa, AL on the campus of Stillman College. Highlighting this year's event is the SIAC Spring Sports Championship Opening Banquet on April 16 at Birthright Gymnasium. At the banquet the SIAC will announce the 2008 All Conference, All Academic, and Superlative Award recipients to over 1,000 participants.
