Day 2 of the 2010 SIAC Tennis Championships saw the top two seeds from both the men’s and women’s pairings advance to the finals. On the men’s side #1 Fort Valley State defeated #4 Benedict, 5-2. In singles, Fort Valley State’s Dwayne White defeated Benedict’s Edward Cox 6-0, 6-0. FVSU’s Brandon Pringle defeated Dominique Greene 6-1, 6-1. The Wildcats also won two of the three doubles match-ups as the teams of Belk/Pringle and White/Oliver both won their matches 8-0.
In the second men’s semifinals, #2 Morehouse defeated #3 Stillman, 5-2. The Maroon Tigers swept the doubles matches led by the team of Tory Martin/Ben Seagle, who won their match 8-6. In singles, Seagle led the way for Morehouse by defeating Stillman’s Anes Hrjnic 6-2, 6-2.
In women’s action #1 Tuskegee defeated #5 Stillman 5-4. The Golden Tigers won two of the three doubles matches as the teams of Knight/Granda and Willoughby/Scott both won 8-1. Tuskegee’s Shaneka Knight led the way in singles by defeating Stillman’s Olivia Hall 6-2, 6-1.
#2 Albany State defeated #3 Benedict, 5-2, in the other semifinal match-up. Albany State swept the doubles matches led by the teams of Jackson/Kellogg (8-3) and Lambert/LeGrand (8-2). Albany State’s Carolina Ribeiro led the way in singles by defeating Benedict’s Chloe Jean-Charles, 6-1, 6-2.
. In women’s final #1 Tuskegee will take on #2 Albany State. In the men’s final #1 Fort Valley will take on #2 Morehouse. Both matches will take place Saturday at noon on the campus of Morehouse College.
