Atlanta, GA— Albany State third baseman Brandon Small and Benedict shortstop Michael Jordan have been named SIAC Baseball East Division Co-Players of the Week after their performances this past week. Benedict senior Donald Williams has been SIAC Baseball East Division Pitcher of the Week. Stillman teammates Dion Bryant and Taylor Gregory have been named SIAC Baseball West Division Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week respectively after their strong performances this past week.
Small, a native of Richland, GA, had nine hits, including five doubles, while batting .529 in five games. The 6-1 junior had a .824 slugging percentage with seven RBIs and 11 runs scored. Small also had an on-base percentage of .619 with one stolen base. Defensively, he had a .750 fielding percentage while helping lead the Golden Rams to a 4-1 record for the week with a win against Selma and a three-game sweep of Clark Atlanta.
In six games, Jordan, a native of Miami, FL, also finished the week with nine hits, including two doubles, a .529 batting average, and seven RBIs. The 5-5 junior also had a slugging percentage of .647 while scoring eight runs. Jordan had an on-base percentage of .823 along with six stolen bases. He had an impressive .967 fielding percentage while helping the Tigers to a 5-1 record including a two-game sweep over Voorhees and a three-game sweep over Morehouse.
Williams was named the top pitcher in the east for the second consecutive week after going 2-0 for the week with a 1.78 ERA. He had six strikeouts in 11.2 innings pitched with just three walks. The 6-5 senior from Carson, CA pitched a complete game shutout in the Tigers’ 9-0 win over Morehouse.
Bryant continues to build on his impressive season going 10-for-15 from the plate with a .667 batting average in the Tigers three-game series with Lane College. The Blakney, GA native also compiled a 1.067 slugging percentage and a .706 on-base percentage in the series. Bryant, a 6-1 junior, scored 11 of the team’s 62 runs and added five extra base hits, three RBIs with three stolen bases in the weekend sweep. He recorded three multi-hit games in the series to extend his hitting streak to 14 games which ties him with teammate Jarius Brown for the team-high this season.
Gregory, a native of Gordo, AL, threw four perfect innings in the Tigers 17-0 win over Lane. He added eight strikeouts en route to his second win of the season after battling injuries for much of the season.
