2013 SIAC Baseball Preseason All-Conference Team

 
Atlanta, GA—The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announces the 2013 SIAC Preseason Baseball All-Conference team as voted by the SIAC Baseball Coaches Association.
 
Leading the way on the All-Conference Team is Benedict College senior first baseball David Weber, who was recently named to the DaKtronics All-South Region Second Team.
 
Last season, the 6-foot-2 senior from Lawndale, CA earned honorable mention All-America honors by DaKtronics.
 
Boasting a .446 batting average, Weber ranked 6^th NCAA among hitters in Division II. He also had 52 RBIs in 35 games, for an NCAA-best 1.49 RBIs per game. In addition, Weber ranked fourth in the nation with a .824 slugging percentage and third in on-base percentage of .568. He was also named to the First-Team All-SIAC.
 
Kelend Smith, named 2012 SIAC Freshman of the Year, returns this season after a sensational freshman season for the Miles Golden Bears. Smith led all SIAC freshman with six home runs and 41 RBI’s, ranking him third and fifth, respectively among batters in the SIAC. The 6-foot-3 first baseman from Pleasant Grove, AL boasted a .359 batting averaged and .590 slugging percentage last season.
 
Also making the list was Paine’s William Van Winkle, a first baseman, also named to the Preseason All-South Region Second Team. The 6-foot-4 senior from Gainesville, FL, led the SIAC in home runs with nine last season. Van Winkle finished the season with a .333 batting average to lead the SIAC runner-up Lions.
 
Claflin and Paine each led the preseason team with four selections each.
