Three SIAC Baseball Players Named to All-Region Team

   ATLANTA—Benedict College Senior Lydell Mosbey, along with Stillman College’s Joey Falleta and Fernando Tanaka were named to the 2013 Daktronics All-Region Baseball Team, as voted by the NCAA Division II South Region Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA).
 
Each player was named on the 2013 Daktronics All-Region Second Team.
 
The 2013 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Utility Player of the Year, Moseby, played catcher, shortstop, and third base for the Tigers this season. The native of Lawndale, California batted .418 and ranked second in the nation with a .799 slugging percentage. He led the SIAC and was among the nation’s leaders with 11 home runs. He also led the SIAC and ranked third nationally with 1.34 runs batted in per game. Moseby was named to the 2013 SIAC All-Tournament Team and on the All-Region team as a Utility Player.
 
Falletta was named to the second team as a Starting Pitcher. The 2013 SIAC Starting Pitcher of the Year had the top record in the SIAC with 7-0 mark, while allowing only 11 runs this season, which gave him one of the top earned run averages in the conference and nation at 2.11. The junior from Franklin, TN also had a conference low 11 walks in 11 appearances this season, while leading Stillman to its sixth SIAC Baseball Championship in seven years. Falletta was also named to the 2013 SAIC All-Tournament Team.
 
Tanaka, a sophomore from Sao Paulo, Brazil, was named to the second team as a Utility (Pitcher). Tanaka was the closer for Stillman this season and came up for the team big as he picked up the save to preserve the team’s victory over Tuskegee in the 2013 SIAC Baseball Championship game. For the s eason, Tanaka had six saves, while only allowing five runs in 13 appearances this season. From the plate, Tanaka compiled 54 hits, scoring 36 runs, while driving in 38 RBIs. Tanaka also name Most Valuable Player of the 2013 SIAC Baseball Championship.
