SIAC ANNOUNCES WEEKLY BASEBALL HONORS
 
ATLANTA, Ga. - The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference today announced that Kentucky State outfielder Alexander Davie has been selected as the SIAC Baseball Player of the Week. Claflin pitcher Justin Vreeland and Stillman pitcher Jordan Mata have been named the SIAC Baseball Co-Pitchers of the Week, respectively.
 
Davie, a junior from Clarksville, Tennessee, hit .524 (11-of-21) at the plate while posting two home runs and two doubles for the Thorobreds. Davie also hit seven singles, stole four bases and registered four walks in seven contests.
 
Vreeland pitched six shutout innings in one contest for the Panthers last week. The junior from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, allowed six hits with no walks against the 25 batters he faced.
 
Mata, a junior from Biloxi, Mississippi, appeared in one game last week for the Tigers, pitching six scoreless innings. Mata also struck out six batters and marked a .174 opposing batter's average.
 
Other notable performers included:
Rashad Bivens, INF, Claflin: Bivens went 9-of-26 (.346) with two home runs, two doubles, one triple and four singles for the Panthers last week. He also scored seven runs and drove in nine additional as Claflin posted a 4-3 record.
 
AJ Garza-Hall, P, Kentucky State: Garza-Hall recorded nine strikeouts with one hit in seven innings for the Thorobreds.
 
Zachary Lowe, C, Morehouse: Lowe went 7-of-8 at the plate, drove in five runs and score three additional for the Maroon Tigers last week. He also recorded two doubles and a triple.
 
Adam Martin, P, Paine: Martin pitched 14 innings over two contests, notching five strikeouts with six walks. In each of his two appearances, he pitched at least the first five innings without allowing a hit.
 
Jon-Tyler Shaw, 1B, Paine: Shaw hit .368 (7-of-19) from the plate while notching one double and one triple for the Lions last week. He also drove in five runs while scoring three as Paine posted a 3-2 record.
 
Fernando Tanaka, SS/C, Stillman: Tanaka recorded seven hits in 16 at bats (.438) while scoring seven runs and driving in six for the Tigers. He also stole three bases as Stillman recorded a 3-1 mark.
