No. 2 Miles downs No. 7 Tuskegee

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  –
No. 2 Miles advanced to the quarterfinals with a 69-41 win over No. 7 Tuskegee, Monday evening at the 2016 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women’s Basketball Tournament at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Miles (16-11 overall) had a solid defensive performance and used a balanced scoring attack to down Tuskegee who finished the season with a 5-21 record. The Golden Bears forced Tuskegee to 22 turnovers and held them to shooting 25.9 percent (14-of-54) from the field. Ashley Steger led all scorers with 16 points and a game-high four assists. Torborsha Holley finished with 15 points ahead of Amoni Walker (12) and Javonne Brown (nine). Shaquita Sales led the defense with 10 rebounds.
 
Rachel Brownlee led the Golden Tigers with 13 points and Demetries McNealey followed with 12. Halle Bentley recorded nine rebounds in the loss.
 
Miles will face the winner between No. 3 Claflin/No. 6 LeMoyne-Owen on Thursday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
