BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – No. 5 Tuskegee rallied from behind to defeat to No. 4 Clark Atlanta 76-66 in an opening round game at the 2016 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men’s Basketball Tournament, Monday evening at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham, Ala.
Tuskegee (13-12 overall) faced a 42-30 deficit at halftime but took its first lead of the second half 59-58, with less than six minutes remaining to take control of the game. The Golden Tigers led for the remainder of the game while Clark Atlanta fell to 9-19 to end the season.
Tuskegee’s second half run was backed behind five players that scored in double-digits as the team shot 53.3 percent (16-of-30) from the field in the second half. James Eads recorded a game-high 22 points ahead of Kevin May (13), Camden Foster 11), Joshua Culver (11), and James Vinson (11). Elijah McMillian led the Golden Tigers defensively with 12 rebounds.
Damien Enoch posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds for Clark Atlanta. Tim Sanders added 15 points ahead of Derek Harper (14).
Tuskegee moves on in the tournament to face top-seeded Stillman on Wednesday, March 2 at 7:45 p.m.
