Top-seeded Benedict moves to semifinals

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
No. 1 Benedict opened the 2016 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Women’s Basketball Tournament quarterfinals with a 68-55 win over No. 5 Paine, Wednesday afternoon at Bill Harris Arena.
 
The Tigers (25-2) captured their fifth straight win while the Lady Lions finished the season with a 10-19 record.
 
Terri Jacobs was phenomenal for the Tigers as she posted a double-double with 16 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Regime McCombs led all players in scoring with 18 points. Defensively, the Tigers took a 62-35 advantage on the glass.
 

Chasity Mullins finished with 16 points for Paine ahead of Aalyiha Wright who recorded 13 points and six rebounds.
 
The Tigers advance to the semifinals to face the winner between No. 2 Miles and No. 3 Claflin on Friday, March 4 at 1 p.m.
