SIAC Announces Baseball Weekly Honors

ATLANTA (March 28, 2017) – Adam Martin (Paine) was selected as the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Baseball Player of the Week and Robert Troiano III (Benedict) was named the Pitcher of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Martin, a 6’4 senior pitcher led Paine (12-12 overall, 4-2 SIAC) to a 2-1 record last weekend against eastern division foe, Clark Atlanta. Martin batted .538 during the three-game series including eight hits, two homeruns, one double and 12 RBI. He also had one stolen base. Martin also picked up his third victory of the year on the mound throwing six innings, allowing only four runs while striking out six in a 10-7 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Paine will face Augusta on Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m.

Troiano pitched a complete-game three-hitter to help lead Benedict (14-7, 4-2) to a 4-2 victory over Albany State and win the conference series on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Field. The 6’3 senior from Myrtle Beach, S.C. went all nine innings, struck out 11 and walked two batters to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Tigers visit Newberry on Wednesday, March 29 for a non-conference game beginning at 6 p.m.
