ATLANTA, Ga. (July 13, 2020) – Morehouse College has been selected as the winner of the 2019-20 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Citizenship Award presented by Georgia Power for the second consecutive year.
The SIAC, whose goal is to empower surrounding communities, launched the SIAC Citizenship Award to annually recognize athletic departments that best exemplify the spirit of community and demonstrates values of volunteer community service and engagement.
The Maroon Tigers were recognized for their community outreach efforts with Genesis Innovation Academy, Cascade Elementary School, Barack Obama Elementary School, Hammonds House Museum, Hapeville Charter, among others. These partnerships helped fuse the connection between the campus and its surrounding community.
These student-athletes also assisted in food distribution, trunk or treat events, film festivals, and more.
