COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Benedict College men's cross country team finished fourth out of 12 teams, while freshman sensation Donald Kibet won by more than a minute at the Akiah McMillan Invitational cross country meet hosted by Columbia College at the Par-Tee Golf Center on Saturday morning.
Kibet finished the 8K course with a personal-best time of 24:25.8, easily beating second-place finisher Jack Pheiffer from UNC Pembroke, who finished with a time of 25:35.3.
Benedict's Nelson Kipkemboi finished 10th with a season-best time of 26:26.0.
Sadiki Marsh finished 36th overall with a personal-best time of 28:58. Ryusei Takahashi finished 37th with a time of 29:00.8. Devonta Newbold finished 44th with a time of 29:33. Javel Best finished 49th with a season-best time of 30:07.3. Matthew Paul finished 61st with a personal best time of 31:12.5 and Japheth Kipruto ran a 31:52.8 to come in 69th.
The Tigers will compete in the Newberry Invitational at Newberry College on Oct. 22.
