Week 1: Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (February 9, 2023) – Isaiah Fedd (Fort Valley State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Taviian Martin (Fort Valley State) earned Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Kendersley Marcellin (Benedict) was tabbed Setter of the Week, released by the league office on Thursday.
 
OFFENSIVE – Isaiah Fedd, Freshman, Outside Hitter, Fort Valley State
 
Since beginning with the Wildcats last month, the 6-3 outside hitter has led FVSU’s offense with 148 kills so far this season. He posted a season-high 33 kills with three errors in 55 swings for a .545 hitting percentage against King University (TN). He added four assists, and a pair of aces and blocks in the five-set battle. In the last week, the freshman competed in nine sets and finished with 47 kills, 14 digs, five aces, four assists, and a block. Fedd was also named Off the Block National Outside Attacker of the Week honor last week.
 
DEFENSIVE – Taviian Martin, Freshman, Middle Blocker, Fort Valley State
 
In his first three matches with the Wildcats, Martin has provided a solid defensive effort. So far this season, he has posted 19 blocks over three games. His season-high seven blocks came against Emmanuel where he also added nine kills. In last week’s game against King University (TN), he finished with 10 kills with two errors in 18 swings for a .444 hitting percentage. He finished with six blocks and a dig.
 
SETTER – Kendersley Marcellin, R-Freshman, Setter, Benedict
 
Benedict's freshman setter opened the season last week with 25 assists in a 3-0 win over 3-1 win over Milligan and 26 more in a 3-0 win over Truett-McConnell. He also added 4 service aces against Milligan.
