ATLANTA, Ga. (March 14, 2023) – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) has announced its track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
Jayvon Hutchinson (Albany State) and
Saniya Keeton (Tuskegee) were named this week’s men and women Track Athletes of the Week, alongside
Michael Trimble (Albany State) and
Alana Thomas (Tuskegee) who
collected this week’s men and women Field Athletes of the Week honor.
Women’s Track and Field
Track Athlete of the Week –
Saniya Keeton, Tuskegee
In last week’s meet, Keeton finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:13.21. The junior runner is ranked first in the league for 400-meter hurdles.
Field Athlete of the Week –
Alana Thomas, Tuskegee
Thomas, a freshman for Tuskegee, was the winner of the hammer throw in the CAU Panther Invitational with a throw of 38.59 meters. She now leads the league in hammer. Thomas also finished fourth in shot put with a throw of 11.62 meters. She finished sixth in the discus, with a throw of 36.25 meters.
Men’s Track and Field
Track Athlete of the Week –
Jayvon Hutchinson, Albany State
Hutchinson of Albany State was the winner of the 110-meter hurdles in the CAU Panther Invitational finishing with a time of 14.87. This is his second consecutive week winning this event.
Field Athlete of the Week –
Michael Trimble, Albany State
In last week’s meet, Michael Trimble finished second in the men’s shot put with a throw of 13.62 meters.
