Week 6: Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (March 16, 2023) – Jaxon Hicks (Fort Valley State) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Victor Scherer (Central State) earned Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Justin Yates (Fort Valley State) was tabbed Setter of the Week, released by the league office on Thursday.
 
OFFENSIVE – Jaxon Hicks, Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Fort Valley State
 
FVSU sophomore Jaxon Hick recorded nine kills to go with three digs, a block and an ace in last week’s match against Belmont Abbey.
 
DEFENSIVE – Victor Scherer, Sophomore, Libero, Central State
 
Central State libero Victor Scherer continued his consistent play with a match-high 14 digs in a 3-0 win over Benedict last Friday. Scherer leads the country in total digs with 275 and digs per set with 3.62.
 
SETTER – Justin Yates, Sophomore, Setter, Fort Valley State
 
In a match against Belmont Abbey last week, Yates handed out 24 assists to go with four digs and three kills. The sophomore setter is currently ranked Top 30 in the NCAA for assists per set averaging 8.83 per set.
