Abate wins second-straight high jump; Nastasi breaks 100m record

They Said It — Head Coach Craig McVey
On the meet
"We had a challenging day weather-wise but we got a lot done today. Everyone we had here competed really well despite the limitations the wind threw at us. Today was a great situation to take what we learned about
competing and move ahead. To have any personal bests in the circumstance we competed in today is a huge bonus. I'm really proud of our team effort."

On Nastasi breaking the school 100m record
"Grant's school record in the 100 meters is special. Saturday was not a day when you'd expect that. He got really close to the record two weeks ago, so it was only a matter of time. The great thing is, he'll go a lot faster. He also had a personal best in the 200 meters, just a great day for him."

On Abate's high jump win
"John Abate's win in the high jump was a great effort on a not good day, he just missed on his attempts at the next height, he'll get that very soon. The height tied his college best, he's 1 cm (1/4") away from tying the school record and that's next. Just a great win."

Looking ahead
"Next week at Emory [Thrills in the Hills] we'll be immersed in a great track and field environment for two days. Being there will be a great opportunity for us to continue to develop."

Up Next
The Badger will travel to Atlanta, Ga., to compete in the Emory Thrills in the Hills on Friday.
