March Golfers of the Month
ATLANTA, Ga. (March 31, 2023) - Jaden Saunders (Savannah State) and Micah Stangebye (Kentucky State) were named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Golfers of the Month for the month of March, announced Friday by the league office.

Savannah State sophomore Jaden Saunders pulled into the lead with a stellar third round at the 2023 Gulf Shores Invitational hosted by the Black College Golf Coaches Association (BCGCA). The three-round tournament was played at the Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club and featured five HBCU teams—nearly all of them NCAA Division I squads. Savannah State was the only team representing NCAA Division II and the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). He shot 78 overall to finish with a 236—helped by a key birdie on 15 and three straight pars to end it. Savannah State finished fourth as a team with a three-round score of 959 (323, 316, 320).

Micah Stangebye led his team with 74 in the first round and 76 in the second to finish tied for third in the 2023 Klash in Kentucky at the Perry Park Country Club in Perry Park, Kentucky. Four out of six Thorobreds finished in the top ten as individuals with a second-place team finish with a two-round score of 617 (307, 310).
