Offensive Player of the Week, while
Rashaun Wright (Fort Valley State) earned
Defensive Player of the Week.
Justin Yates (Fort Valley State) was tabbed
Setter of the Week, released by the league office on Thursday.
OFFENSIVE – Cameron Lee, Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Central State
Sophomore Cameron Lee led Central State with a total of 26 kills in victories over Morehouse and Fort Valley State. Lee recorded 16 kills in a five-set win over Fort Valley State and 10 kills against Morehouse.
DEFENSIVE – Rashaun Wright, Sophomore, Middle Blocker, Fort Valley State
Fort Valley State’s Rashaun Wright led the Wildcats defensive effort finishing with a 1-1 record on the week. On the week, he collected nine total kills, three service aces, four digs, and six blocks. Against Kentucky State, the sophomore middle contributed four kills and a few service aces and digs to the win. In a tough five-set loss to Central State, Wright had five kills without an error in nine attacks (.556) and four blocks.
SETTER – Justin Yates, Sophomore, Setter, Fort Valley State
Sophomore setter Justin Yates helped the Wildcats to a 1-1 record last week finishing with 63 assists, 14 digs, four blocks, three kills, and a service ace. In a win over Kentucky State, he added 26 assists. Against Kentucky State, he collected 37 assists.
