Week 9: Men’s Volleyball Players of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. (April 6, 2023) – Kaelen Ingram (Edward Waters) was named Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men’s Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, while Taviian Martin (Fort Valley State) earned Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Jhoan Capellan (Edward Waters) was tabbed Setter of the Week, released by the league office on Thursday.
 
OFFENSIVE – Kaelen Ingram, Sophomore, Outside Hitter, Edward Waters
 
EWU’s sophomore outside hitter Kaelen Ingram was consistent for the Tigers offense in two wins last week over Warner University (Fla.) and Central State University.  Against Warner, Ingram was EWU’s second-leading scorer finishing with 11 kills and seven blocks. Against Central State, he added seven kills to lead Edward Waters to a 2-0 record last week.
 
DEFENSIVE – Taviian Martin, Freshman, Middle Blocker, Fort Valley State
 
Fort Valley State’s Taviian Martin finished last week with nine kills and one error in 14 total attempts for a .571 hitting percentage. The middle blocker added five block assists and three aces in 3-0 win over Morehouse.
 
SETTER – Jhoan Capellan, R-Freshman, Setter, Benedict
 
EWU’s redshirt freshman setter Jhoan Capellan led the Tigers to two wins with 56 assists on the week. He posted 36 assists against Warner and 17 assists against Central State.
