ATLANTA, GA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced weekly honors for men's and women's basketball on Tuesday, January 30. In this celebration of on-court successes, Kentucky State's Brandon Hill was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Morehouse's Cedric Taylor III took home the title of Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week. Miles' Iemyiah Harris was named Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and LeMoyne-Owens' Jade Salters took home the title of Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week.
MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Brandon Hill, Kentucky State University

Brandon Hill, a senior guard for Kentucky State University, showcased impressive skills in recent games. In a notable performance against Central State University, the Shorewood, Illinois native connected 55% from the field and 3 of 4 three-pointers. His additional on-court successes include three defensive rebounds and two assists during the contest. Further elevating his game, Hill rivaled the formidable players of Miles College for 30 minutes of play, achieving 67% from the field and connecting 67% of his three-point shots. Remarkably flawless in free throws, Hill maintained a 100% free throw percentage. Defensively, he bettered his previous game's stats, securing four defensive rebounds and five assists.
MEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Cedric Taylor III, Morehouse College

Cedric Taylor III, a freshman guard for Morehouse College, showcased his versatility and defensive prowess in a recent Clark Atlanta contest. During his 30 minutes of play, Taylor connected 33% from the field, secured 40% of his three-point shots, and achieved an impressive 100% free-throw percentage. Taylor continued to dominate with 12 rebounds, complemented by one assist, one steal, and two blocks. Rivaling Edward Waters University, Taylor advanced his field goal percentage to 42% while maintaining a strong presence, securing 11 defensive rebounds. His contribution was not limited to scoring, as he secured three assists, one steal, and two blocks, demonstrating his ability to play a well-rounded game. In a subsequent contest, facing Talladega College, Taylor connected 50% from the field while securing two rebounds, three steals, one block, and one assist.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Iemyiah Harris, Miles College

Iemyiah Harris, a standout player for the Lady Golden Bears, has been making waves, showcasing her skills and determination on the court. Harris was a key player in the highly anticipated game against Kentucky State University. The Anniston, Alabama native scored 20 points while securing five assists and four steals, contributing significantly to the Lady Golden Bears' triumph in this thrilling clash. Her performance against Tuskegee was nothing short of spectacular, where she displayed her sharpshooting skills by sinking eight three-pointers, seven of which came in a game-changing second half. Harris finished this game with 27 points, alongside four rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Jade Salters, LeMoyne-Owen College

Jade Salters, a rising star for LeMoyne-Owen College, showcased her exceptional skills on the court in recent contests. Delivering an impressive performance against Spring Hill College, Salters' on-court prowess was evident in her shooting as she achieved 45% from the field and connected 100% of her three-point shots. The Cleveland native continued her successes, connecting 56% of her shots from the charity stripe and closing the contest with one defensive rebound, one assist, and four steals. Salters' ascent continued in a thrilling contest where the Lady Magicians rivaled Lane College. The junior guard displayed her multifaceted skills, connecting 75% from the charity stripe while securing four steals, two offensive rebounds, and five defensive rebounds.
