Lavar Miller Jr. took home the title of
Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week. Kentucky State’s
Gracen Kerr was named
Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and Clark Atlanta's
Atreonia Garner concluded the lineup, receiving the honor of
Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week.
MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Asanti Price, Benedict College

Price, the senior guard from Columbia, South Carolina, made a solid start to 2024, significantly contributing to back-to-back conference victories for the eighth-ranked Benedict Tigers. Leading the team with 23 points in a win over Spring Hill and an additional 19 points in a victory against Tuskegee, Price's impressive shooting prowess saw him with a 57.1% field goal percentage and a remarkable 62.5% from three-point range, making 10-of-16 shots. Price contributed one rebound, one steal, and three assists throughout the contests.
MEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Lavar Miller Jr., Kentucky State University

Miller, a junior guard and St. Louis native, led the charge in a thrilling home-court contest as the Kentucky State Thorobreds rivaled the Morehouse Maroon Tigers. Within 34 minutes of play, Miller amassed 30 points, shooting 48% from the field and sinking 50% of his three-pointers. In addition to his on-the-court prowess, Miller's play featured four defensive rebounds and five assists, significantly contributing to the Thorobreds' 85-79 victory.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Gracen Kerr, Kentucky State University

In recent contests, Kerr showcased multifaceted skills, rivaling Albany State, Trevecca Nazarene, Midway, and Clark Atlanta. Kerr's most notable stats hail from the Thorobreds' home-court victory over Midway (80-69). Leading the charge with 36 minutes of play, Kerr connected 7 of 14 field goal attempts and four of six three-point attempts. In addition to her on-court successes, Kerr dominated with one offensive rebound, two defensive rebounds, nine assists, and five steals.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Atreonia Garner, Clark Atlanta University
#13 | Guard/Forward | Freshman | Spanaway, Washington
Spanaway native Atreonia Garner notched an impressive double-double in a fiercely contested match against Central State on January 4. During this heated matchup, Garner played a pivotal role in her team's thrilling 99-94 victory, shooting 12-of-16 (75%) from the field and 3-of-4 (75%) from the charity stripe. In addition, the freshman sensation took home one offensive rebound, nine offensive rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
