SIAC Football Weekly Honors: Nov. 12

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 12, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Jaylen Middleton (Kentucky State), Caleb Grant (Morehouse), Jaxon Williams (Benedict) and NyJal Johnson (Lane) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAYLEN MIDDLETON, KENTUCKY STATE UNIVERSITY
Running Back | Freshman | Houston, Texas
Middleton rushed for a season-high 189 yards, including a touchdown and a long of 25 yards, in the win over Central State.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – CALEB GRANT, MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
Linebacker | Senior | Stone Mountain, Ga.
rant recorded nine tackles, one sack, and a 65-yard pick-six against Clark Atlanta. He also spearheaded a defensive effort that allowed just two offensive touchdowns, with no points scored in the second half.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – JAXON WILLIAMS, BENEDICT COLLEGE
Wide Receiver | Freshman | Dothan, Ala.
Williams sparked a 23-point run with an 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to open the second half against Savannah State. He finished with 202 yards on five returns. Williams leads the SIAC and NCAA Division II in kickoff return yards.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – NYJAL JOHNSON, LANE COLLEGE
Quarterback | Junior | Starkville, Miss.
Johnson guided Lane to a victory over Lincoln University, completing 7 of 9 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns.
