SIAC Football Weekly Honors: Nov. 5

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Football Players of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 5, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week. Alan Riggins (Clark Atlanta), Lashon Young (Miles), Daniel Gibbs (Fort Valley State) and Dray Duncan (Fort Valley State) were recognized.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – ALAN RIGGINS, CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY
Running Back | Sophomore | Tampa, Fla.
Riggins rushed for a season-high 119 yards and two touchdowns, propelling Clark Atlanta to its first win over Tuskegee since 1995. Averaging 9.2 yards per carry, his performance helped keep the Panthers in the hunt for the SIAC title game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – LASHON YOUNG, MILES COLLEGE
Defensive Back | Freshman | Sweet Water, Ala.
Young recorded four tackles, two pass breakups, and an interception returned 52 yards for a touchdown in Miles' victory over Morehouse. His seven interceptions lead all of Division II, and it was the first touchdown of his career.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DANIEL GIBBS, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Kicker | Senior | Warner Robins, Ga.
Gibbs delivered a flawless kicking performance against Benedict, converting all five PATs and hitting three field goals from distances of 46, 32, and 20 yards. He also logged nine kickoffs for 430 yards.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – DRAY DUNCAN, FORT VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY
Defensive Back | Freshman | Columbus, Ga.
Duncan helped the FVSU defense hold Benedict to -1 yards rushing on 21 carries and only 213 yards of total offense in the win. He had a team-high 7 tackles and 2 pass breakups.
