ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its SIAC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week on Tuesday, Dec. 17, honoring student-athletes for impressive performances in games played last week.
Taliah Wesley (
Allen) and
Na'Haviya Paxton (
Albany State) were recognized.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – TALIAH WESLEY, ALLEN UNIVERSITY
Guard | Senior | Blakely, Ga.
Wesley led all scorers in Allen's 76-61 win over Spring Hill on Saturday, December 14, with 27 points. The senior guard also recorded her second consecutive double-double by totaling a game-best 15 rebounds. She shot 10-of-20 (50%) from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. Wesley also added three steals to her efforts.
NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK – NA'HAVIYA PAXTON, ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY
Guard | Junior | Lake City, Fla.
Paxton has made an immediate impact for the Lady Golden Rams, helping the team to secure a 2-0 week with strong performances against Central State and Trinity Baptist. As one of the team’s leading scorers and rebounders, she has been a consistent force on both ends of the court, playing a vital role in Albany State’s success this week.
