SIAC Announces Men's & Women's Basketball Weekly Honors 02.13

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) announced weekly honors for men's and women's basketball on Tuesday, February 13. In this celebration of on-court successes, Spring Hill’s Isaiah Veal was named Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while Clark Atlanta’s Xavier Griffith took home the title of Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week. Kentucky State’s Gracen Kerr was named Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and Tuskegee’s Cynaye Bobbitt took home the title of Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Isaiah Veal, Spring Hill College
#2 | Point Guard | R-Senior | San Francisco, Calif.
Rivaling LeMoyne-Owen College, Veal secured seven defensive rebounds, three assists, and two steals. The San Francisco native closed the contest with a free-throw percentage of 100 and 18 points.
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Xavier Griffith, Clark Atlanta University
#1 | Forward | Junior | Athens, Ala.
Taking on Savannah State University, Griffith connected 50 percent of his shots from the field. The junior forward continued to secure five defensive rebounds and three assists, significantly contributing to the Panthers' win during this home contest.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Gracen Kerr, Kentucky State University
#11 | Point Guard | Senior | Ansonia, Conn.
Kerr continues to shine as a standout player for the Thorobreds. Facing Miles College on the road, the Ansonia native connected 10 of 17 from the field while securing two rebounds, four assists, and one steal.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK - Cynaye Bobbitt, Tuskegee University
#3 | Forward | Junior | Killeen, Texas
Rivaling Lane College, Bobbitt locked in 
a free-throw percentage of 100 while securing three assists, two blocks, and an impressive 14 rebounds during this home contest.
