SIAC announces men’s volleyball weekly honors 03.06

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for men's volleyball Wednesday, March 6. Central State's Tyrone Sands was named Men's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week. KJ Harrison and Ian Ford brought home additional honors for the Marauders as Men's Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tyrone Sands, Central State University
#9 | Outside Hitter | Junior | Nassau, Bahamas
Tyrone Sands is proving to be an offensive leader for the team with over 60 combined kills from the Marauder's five matches last week. Sands' 21 kills in a Talladega match resulted in a single match high and his personal best.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - KJ Harrison, Central State University
#27 | Libero | Freshman |  Apopka, FL
Harrison recorded over 55 total combined digs in five matches last week against Talladega (doubleheader), Fort Valley and Morehouse (doubleheader). He had a single season match high during the Talladega match of 23 digs, just two digs shy of breaking the single season match record held by former libero Victor Scherer.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK - Ian Ford, Central State University
#8 | Setter | Freshman | Westerville, Ohio
Ian Ford recorded over 160 total combined assists iin five matches last week  against Talladega (doubleheader), Fort Valley and Morehouse (doubleheader). Ford had a single season match high of 51 assists during the Talladega match, just two assists shy from breaking the schools single season match record of 53 held by former setter Marcus Franck.
