SIAC announces men's & women's track and field weekly honors 04.02

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for men's and women's track and field on Tuesday, April 2. Benedict's Javel Best and Rajaun Ricketts were named Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Men's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. Miles' Kiersten Clark was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week, and Jada David brought home additional honors for Benedict as Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Javel Best, Benedict College
Redshirt Senior | Snell Hall, St. Patrick, Grenada
Best won the 400-meter race with a personal-best time of 47.91 at the Gotta Run Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University. He was also a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team with a time of 3:14.90.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Rajaun Ricketts, Benedict College
Sophomore | St. Ann, Jamaica
Ricketts swept both the long jump and triple jump events at the Gotta Run Invitational, hosted by Southern Wesleyan University. He won the long jump with a mark of 7.13 meters (23 feet, 4 ¾ inches), and won the triple jump with a mark of 14.74 meters (48 feet, 4 ¼ inches).

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Kiersten Clark, Miles College
Junior | Panola, MS
Clark showcased her exceptional talents at the UAB Spring Invite, clinching third place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.7 seconds, the fastest in the SIAC this year. She secured second in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 24.22 seconds, which was the top Division II time at the meet. Additionally, she ran the anchor leg for the 4x100-meter relay team that finished third with a time of 46.52 seconds.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Jada David, Benedict College
Junior | Athens, GA
David won the triple jump with a jump of 11.89 meters (39 feet) and recorded a personal record of 5.06 meters (16 feet, 7 ¼ inches) to finish 12th in the long jump at the Gotta Run Invitational hosted by Southern Wesleyan University. Her triple jump mark ranks first in the SIAC and 11th in Division II.
