SIAC announces men's & women's track and field weekly honors 04.23

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for men's and women's track and field on Tuesday, April 23. LeMoyne-Owen College swept the lineup as Michael Styles and Matthew Spears were named Men's Track Athlete of the Week and Men's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively. Johnasia O'Neal and Cierra Crusoe brought home additional honors for the Magicians as Women's Track Athlete of the Week and Women's Field Athlete of the Week, respectively.

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Michael Styles, LeMoyne-Owen College
Freshman | The Bahamas
Styles won two gold medals at the Mountain Laurel Invitational—clocking 21.88 seconds in the 200 meters and contributing to a first-place finish in the 4x400 meter relay with a personal-best time of 3:33.38. He also took bronze with the 4x100 meter relay team, posting a time of 51.80 seconds.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Matthew Spears, LeMoyne-Owen College
Sophomore | Indianapolis, Indiana
Spears won his first career medal, a bronze, with a high jump of 1.60 meters at the Mountain Laurel Invitational.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Johnasia O'Neal, LeMoyne-Owen
Freshman | Columbus, Mississippi
O'Neal captured her first career gold medal by winning the 100-meter hurdles in 16.47 seconds at the Mountain Laurel Invitational hosted by Sewanee.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Cierra Crusoe, LeMoyne-Owen College
Freshman | Columbus, Mississippi
Cierra Crusoe earned her first career medal by securing a bronze in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 11.22 meters. She also set another personal record in the discus throw, reaching 32.21 meters to finish in the top-10 at the Mountain Laurel Invitational.
