SIAC announces men's & women's track and field weekly honors 04.09

ATLANTA – The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced weekly honors for men's and women's track and field on Tuesday, April 9. Benedict's Javel Best was named Men's Track Athlete of the Week, while Central State's Jevon Warren was named Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Albany State's Nathalia Rowe was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week, and Central Stat's Darcey Dorris brought home an additional honor for the Marauders as Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Javel Best, Benedict College
R-Senior | Snell Hall, St Patrick, Grenada
Best ran a personal-record time of 21.27 in the 200-meter dash, finishing sixth overall. That time ranks as the 20th-fastest in Division II and the third-fastest in the SIAC. Best also was a member of both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relay teams. Benedict's 4x100-meter relay team finished fourth with a season-best time of 41.23, the 28th-fastest time in Division II. The 4x400-meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:12.31.

MEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Jevon Warren, Central State University
Freshman | Calumet City, IL
Freshman Jevon Warren cleared 6 feet, 3.5 inches in the high jump to score a huge win for the Marauders at the University of Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational. Warren's jump beat the competition by nearly 3 inches.

WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Nathalia Rowe, Albany State University
Junior | Atlanta, GA
Rowe clinched her first 400-meter hurdle title with a time of 1:01.31 and was a member of the winning 4x400-meter relay team.

WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Darcey Dorris, Central State University
Sophomore | Grand Rapids, MI
Darcey Dorris had a strong performance in the University of Charleston Golden Eagle Invitational last week. The sophomore finished second out of 20 in the shot put with a throw of 11.15 meters and third out of 25 in the discus with a throw of 39.77 meters.
